Ok, I have been lurking here for a while and am sold on the Festool deal. I have downsized to townhouse living and need to start getting some tools back in my life.

I am going with a TS55 or 75 and maybe the MFT/3.

The thing is I can't get my head out of the table saw deal as I think it still will be needed. I just do not have the room unless a contractor and then it really doesn't fit my needs.

So, I am on the Grizzly site and you can get a 450LB cabinet style saw for $750. The TS75 with guide is $640 at approx 35lbs.  I can't help but think what is wrong here?

Ok we are not buying by the pound but they are both saws. I hope the Festool will need to be pushed out by my grandkids just as the Grizzly would.

Just a ramble by someone looking at saws for 48hrs straight.

If the TS 75 is 35 lbs. I got the anorexic model.
I still feel a table saw is still needed ALONG WITH one of the TS saw.

The best of both worlds would be to get each one.  However, with the proper accessories you can do pretty much everything with the Festool system that you can with a tablesaw, albeit a bit slower for some operations.  I have both a TS75 and a 3 HP cabinet saw.  As I have incorporated using Festools more and more I have come to rely on the cabinet saw less and less.  In fact, for the last several pieces of furniture I have made I have not even turned the cabinet saw on -- all cuts made with the TS75, parallel guides and MFT/3.  The parallel guides allow you to rip consistent widths, including narrow widths that are not as safe ripping on a traditional cabinet saw.  Now, I am not quite ready to ditch my conventional tablesaw just yet, but I am starting to give it some thought -- reclaiming that floor space would be huge.  I might the Festool system first and see what limitations it has for the type of work you do and then consider adding a tablesaw later.  You might find that you do not miss it.  Given the choice I would rather have a big bandsaw to go with my TS75 than a tablesaw, but YMMV.

Dude!  The TS75 would be really hard to lift at 450 lbs! [eek]

Seriously, I have both.  I use them both, but if one had to go, it would definitely be the Unisaw.
