Wanted to show you guys the travesty.
This woodwork is all quartersawn white oak! We refinished and stained some of it to show the contractor how sweet it could look but despite our efforts he painted it!  [scared]

Oh yeah the floors are stained red oak.

While im at it I might as well throw in some other samples of our work. Sorry for the small pics!

Nice house and your floors look great.

I am so often torn between painting and not painting.  We have woodwork throughout our house and some rooms are painted and others aren't.  Our house was built in 1917 so this isn't contractor grade pine trim, but old growth oak and heart pine. 

In this case, that would be a lot of QS oak - really overwhelming.
