TSO Introduces 20mm "Stubby" Bench Dogs

DoubleGroove-Stubby-Dog-Clearance.jpg

Have you noticed that many traditional 20mm bench dogs interfere with the motor housing of your Festool® TS55 and TS75 track saw when fully plunged in the cut? Well, we did, and we made a solution: Stubby Dogs. With their low profile, Stubby Dogs are designed to the perfect height--short enough to just fit underneath the motor housing of your track saw, but tall enough to enable you to cut sheetgoods up to 1" (25mm) in thickness when used in conjunction with Dog Rail Clips and SpeedKnobs™ to position and secure your guide rail. To see how this system works, see the video below:

[size=18pt]Stubby Dogs are the latest in our growing family of DoubleGroove™ 20mm Bench Dogs. We recently introduced new "Close Fit" or CF-Dogs made with a slightly larger body diameter resulting in a firm fit in 20mm holes made by precision methods such as the Parf Guide System or CNC Router. In fact, CF-Dogs are the perfect add-on for those using the Parf Guide System because they fit perfectly into the system's drill guide and indexing holes.

[size=18pt]Both Stubby Dogs and CF-Dogs are just $23.95 a pair,
and available right now at www.tsoproducts.com.

Happy woodworking from Hans, Eric and the entire TSO Products team!

In the first picture how did you manage to plunge the saw this deep? At this point the blade would go well through MFT top and half way into aluminum profile. I.e. you are cutting 3/4 ply at full 50 mm plunge.  [scared]

Stubby dogs don't need to be that short. TS55 motor will clear taller dogs (~60 mm) regardless of the material thickness.

Probably pulled the blade out for demonstration purposes . Be my guess.

Charlie - you got it - good observation and correct conclusion!
We had the saw blade plunged beyond the material thickness to show the range at which this Stubby Dog will hold the rail without interfering with the motor housing.

[member=61691]TSO_Products[/member] very well done video :)

I don't have an MFT yet but this is something I will consider with the clips for when I get one.

Yes!!! I did notice this when I used the rail dogs I just got yesterday.  Even talked on the phone before ordering.  No mention of the interference, or the new product.

With the clips you don't need an MFT, just a replacement perforated top (or self-made version), dogs, and a rail. And a way to support the top above the ground.

Sorry for the confusion, I meant DIY MFT which is exactly what you described :P

[member=5177]Emer Construction[/member]  - if you are using an MFT/3 and would like to change or exchange an item - no problem, Steve - just let us know or drop me an email with your phone number.

The Stubby Dog is  a solution when you are size limited by an MFT/3 surface, short rails or large workpiece - or combination of these.
