Hello, my name is Chris.  And I am a Festool addict.  Over the weekend I through together a quick little "station" to house my Festool gear and to serve several functions.  It isn't quite complete yet, but I think you'll get the idea.  I would appreciate any suggestions for improvement.  Basically, this will act as my MFT stand, Kapex stand, outfeed table for my TS, and an improvised sysport for the toys, I mean tools.  The one thing I haven't completed yet is the actual work surface under the Kapex.  That portion of the unit is inspired by the disappearing miter saw stand found here: http://www.halfinchshy.com/2010/05/disappearing-miter-saw-stand.html  The rest of it was obviously inspired by the many impressive homemade sysports on FOG.  I've been hanging out out here for quite a while looking for ideas.  Originally I planned on building this out of 8020.  Then I got an estimate.  So, for the moment, I'll have to make due with this arrangement.  Anyway, the idea for the Kapex is simple.  When I need a miter saw, I'll use it in this configuration and add a piece of 8020 extrusion to the MFT using adjustable bench dogs.  This extrusion will mate with the fence of the Kapex to provide a nice long fence.  I still need to make a stop for it.  Although I'm thinking about getting another stop flag, as it would work perfectly.  I'm just having a hard time paying $40 for the thing.  Anyone got an extra stop getting their way? [smile]  When not using the saw, I'll simply pull the pins, flip the table over, and use the work surface as an outfeed table for the TS or for glue-ups.  I still need to get a piece of MDF to complete it.  And for what it's worth, I have included a pic of my 8020 plans, in case any of you are interested in a similar set up.  Of course, your dimensions may vary.  Enjoy!

Welcome to the forum, Chris. I rotated those photos for you since they were upside down. Feel free to contact me if you ever need any assistance or have questions.

Welcome Chris,

You have good taste in tools!  I like the Incra router table in the background and on the table saw.

Since you have the Kapex, how often do you use your Ridged miter saw?  I have two miter saws and a old Craftsman radial arm saw that

I will give away once I get my Kapex.  Nice workstation.  Looks like you can use it as an out feed table for your table saw?

Eric

Hi Chris.

Welcome aboard  [big grin]

You're going to need a lot more places to stash systainers ... the damn things multiply like rabbits.

Thanks Eric.  The Ridged is actually a metal chop saw.  I rarely use it, but it's one of those things that when you need it, you need it.  The Kapex replaced an old Dewalt CMS.  It was a good saw, I just couldn't ever get it dialed in as acurate as I wanted.  And yes, I love the Incra fences.  I'm still learning the router table though.  I wish I could spend a day with someone that has one.  I keep watching the videos trying to pick up tips and tricks.  I'll eventually get good at it.

Hi Chris,

Welcome to the FOG!  [smile]

On that Incra table. I find that just watching the portion of the  DVD  for the particular task I am doing helps, rather than watching the whole thing and trying to 'get it all'. I also take notes then head for the shop. It seems waaaay more complicated on the DVD than it actually is when you start using the system for real.

Hi Chris,
i find a chessboard on the table saw ?  or thats a chopping board?
u made it? how to do this board?

That is actually a small chopping block/bread or cheese board I was making at the time. It was alternating black walnut and hard maple.  I think I had just finished sanding it there. I later used several coats of mineral oil to finish.

Nice work on all that.  Erock has the same idea I had looking at the photos: put a surface on the flip side of the flip-top table and you have a nice outfeed or at least extra horizontal surface.

Green koolaid... it's for breakfast :)
