Inventory scan for Festool dealers??

Hi Folks,

    Based on another tread, I have experimented in reading the datamatrix code from Festool systainers. For tools, when scanned the result is a string of digits that contain the numeric strings on the systainer. For some tools, the parsing is obvious....Festool part number, tool number and serial number. In any case, would somebody from Festool illuminate the meaning of the digits so I can attempt to write an inventory scanning app for iPhone or Android? Thanks in advance. I think such an app would be really useful in terms of customer support pre and post sales for things like tool registration and inventory tracking.

Clever idea! You could point a browser dev tools at the Festool > my tools > new tool registration page and see what it does when you enter the tnr part number. I'm guessing it'll fire off a request to look it up and you could maybe use the same method?
