So who's waiting for the arrival of a new ipad this year?

I think this will be the one to buy.
I am hoping it will have a decent camera, better screen resolution and longer battery life than the ipad 2.
I don't mind if the weight is slightly more, as a longer battery life would be better than a light battery and low battery life.
Connection wise, I would like it to have USB 3.0 or even better would be a Thunderbolt connection. (I realise there are not many peripheral's available right now, but I think we will see a lot more Thunderbolt devices after February 2012.)

3d screen would be cool, but I can't see that happening for the ipad 3.

Anybody else waiting to buy?
What would you like to see included?

Justin.

I'll suck up anything we with an Apple logo on it [big grin]

Higher resolution would be good. More storage would be good. Faster processing would e good? But what I'd really like is some serious improvement to the audio inputs - all this grunt available for audio processing and the audio input is MONO - c'mon Apple ... it's not just a big phone! (come to t hunk of it, I'd like better recording for te phone too.

I would be surprised to see some "no touch" gesture recognition (close proximity and movements).

Better cameras, better batteries, etc - other ayers solve this ... Apple just capitalises on the improvements.

4G ready maybe ?

Real brave would be taking the display to the edge (say as close as the sides of the iPhone) - get rid of the buttons too and make the entire shell waterproof.

That all sounds good but I am really happy with the iPad 2.  Would still prob buy the iPad 3 though  [big grin]. Like the idea of the display being closer to the edge & possibly thinner ?  Scratch proof glass would be a must as well.

Oh - expect Siri to be a big thing with iPad 3 too ...

I would like it to have a SD car slot  if it has that I'll buy it if it does not I won't even want it for free okay maybe free but I wouldn't pay for it ever until they do and so I'll carry on using my iPad1 until then.

It's why I didn't bother with the iPad 2. If you didn't have an iPad then iPad 2 but I believe any one who already owned an iPad 1 where stupid to of bought an iPad2 to replace their iPad1.

It would make it soooooo much better if it has a SD card slot Like 1000x times better! be able to transfer music pictures anything much quicker and easier.  My pictures from my camera can easily be transferred. At the moment it feels like a a big effort to get pictures onto my iPad and so I don't bother until i have time and feel like it.

Things like more power better screen etc are all just extra benefits to me but not my main priority.

About the screen needing to be closer to the edge I believe would be more annoying than beneficial.  When I pick up my iPad and hold my iPad I often have my thumb on the black surrounding or if I pass it to some one and they take it off me you will  notice how handy that black surrounding is now if that was the touch screen I would be selecting things all the time.

Oh I don't see why they can't easily make an iPad water proof if not water resistant from heavy rain that would be a nice feature.

I don't see the problem. I just carry the SD card adapter.

I did hold off until the iPad 2 came out as I needed the video recording capabilities.
I would really like cameras that equal the iPhone 4s but the current ones work well enough.

Jerome, does the sd card adaptor work good ? I have read mixed reports about them.

Cheers.

You dont see the problem?   Why should I carry and buy a adapter when apple can easily build one into the Ipad.   Thats my problem its principle all the other companies seem to be able to manage it. Plus they are crap any way

The reason I bought an Ipad so its small and handy to carry around if I need to start carrying cases, adapters and leads around it might as well be a laptop defeats the object of it being a all in one portable device.

So if Ipad 3 came with no camera but instead you had to buy an adapter  with a built in camera you had to stick on the bottom you would be happy with that?    Defeats the convenience of it dont it!?

I have my Ipad fully charged in my van to just get out and show clients the jobs I have done.  I also have my camera in my van so I can just quickly take pictures of the jobs I have done I can then simply stick the SD card into my ipad transfer the pictures job done.......

oh wait I cant I have to take both SD card and Ipad and turn my Imac on and connect my Ipad to the Imac either via cable or a APP wirelessly and transfer images from SD to PC to transfer to IPAD oh how convenient .     OR I go out spend more money having a stupid adapter is just something to snap break of as well as I properly loose it.   All because Apple are being * Heads!

Seems stupid to say a device with no SD card is expectable in todays world.   Pretty much EVERYTHING     TV's  hi-fi's DVD players, phones PC's, laptops    even CARS my Dad's car has TWO SD card slots which he has two 16GB cards in them but also has a built in 40GB hard drive does he need the SD cards slots? NO does make it easy to transfer music onto the hard drive YES  ....... lists goes on and on    only Ipad is the ODD one out with no SD card slot.

I can say to you why do you want an Ipad with video recording ability never be as good as a proper HD camcorder why don't you just buy a camcorder you can transfer the videos  through your SD card adapter.

As of right now this is the most powerful tablet on the market. Haven't read reviews on it though as i'm not in the market for a new tablet. If you are looking for a new tablet I'd wait a couple of months at least. CES is due to show where this market will be going as far as tech improvements and the like. I'd like to see what samsung comes up with next mainly because of the tech involved in the samsung NOTE and it's stylus capabilities. I own a stylus for my current tablet and it works ok but i'd like to see a fully functional one on upcoming tabs. The last galaxy tab is a fine device but is missing the sd, usb, ports the same as the ipad. If buying a new android tablet I'd wait for a solid build of ICS as well instead of holding out for the promise of the update.

I have an iPad1 and got the iPad2 to get the camera functionality. To me, it is worthless as an upgrade as the pics are way too grainy. Sure it is a tiny bit faster but barely noticable. Would be seriously interested if the new iPad comes with a decent quality camera and like others have said, would sure appreciate an easier method of data transfer in and out like an SD card. I would be happy for a very long time with that.

JMB, off topic but what car does your dad have ?  Sounds like a lot of connectivity.  Also, what do you think of the i mac ?  I might get one later this year.  Would you buy it again ?

I've got the original iPad 3G and personally the most missed feature in all of the iGadgets is a connector port on the long side of them to be able to put it in a dock sideways to watch movies on it or use it as a photo frame. (and yes, I know you can out the stupid sleeve thing on and get it stand on it's side, but you miss out on proper sound from a good doc like the Philips Fidelio DS9000 (Amazon) and recharging while watching.

As a comment about the SD card slot, I'd say it would be rather redundant since the application sandboxing security feature of the iGadgets would foil all attempts of information sharing from the card since iOS does not have a concept for shared storage space at all. So even if you could plug an SD card into one it would just contain application sandboxes and application specific data and not be visible as a shared directory of any sorts.

USB 3.0 and faster Wifi backup would be very welcome too.

I customised my Dads car as he knows nothing about stuff like that if it was down to him he would of got a crappy old mans Merc!   The link below on audis website does not have all the same spec options I think I had a quick look but cant find the option Bang N Olsen speakers which I got put on my Dads car.   Adaptive cruise control I added which is a cool feature which is still available.

Here the SD card option I selected for his car

you are completely correct that it's not as good as a HD camcorder.

But for my needs an HD camcorder would be useless.
I always have my iPad when I go to work as it has the spreadsheets and other programs I need.
It can record video in the resolution I need, HD video is much too big.  And there is no way that I would carry a camcorder, tripod and associated stuff with me.

I usually travel 16 hours a week on trains, busses, subways and on foot to my jobs so the iPad is ideal for me (much better than when I had to carry my MacBook Pro). Carrying a SD card adapter to use when I need is a minor inconvience.

I also have a few other bits like the VGA adapter. Should I get upset and rant that it's not built in? I think not.  As Richard says it takes a few seconds with the adapter.

If it doesn't work for you then wait for something that does.  ;)
