Hi everyone,

I have a little different topic. Do you use any iPad apps that could help with furniture design and production. The point is to do it on site with the iPad only. I have in mind (multiple) apps with following features:

FURNITURE DESIGN
Not interier desing texture puzzles or something like home design catalogue. I am looking for a tech app with simple interface enabling to combine rectangles with specific dimensions together to a) have real dimensions in the project and b) preview the furniture to the requester. I was thinking of some simplistic CAD or 3D app but nothing complicated or expensive.

LIST OF PARTS GENERATOR
It’s simple list of components for the cutting plan.

CUTTING PLAN
I have already found nice app for this called Cut Calculator.

Thanks for any hint.

Shapr3D is a very nice iPad app.  Learning curve takes a bit.  It won’t do a materials list, but does offer a lot of capability.  Free download to try basics, but I think the full version is around $250/year.

SketchUp has a viewer for iPad.  So does Fusion360.  But neither offer the ability to design on the iPad.

Just found “iPocket Draw” and it looks promising.

Anybody used it?

I know mayor kitchen suppliers use iPads to design kitchens on the go, but they are connected to a server with sophisticated, dedicated software. I don’t think something like that is something you want to pursue.

Don’t need anything so sophisticated. 2D template with a simple editor will work fine. I’ll let you know about my tests with iPocket Draw.

I looked in to this some time ago and I have the app concepts and the app uMake installed on my ipad. Concepts is for 2D and uMake för 3D. I think uMake may be reasonably close to you are looking for, but it is a bit of an investment, and a bit of a learning curve. I didn’t  wind up using them after the initial trial. They also update so frequently that it is difficult to keep up with the changes unless you use the apps on a daily basis. Thats my impression anyway.

I don’t know if Delta Cad is available for iPads. It is available for both Windows and Apple OS. It is a simple 2D program. Very easy to learn and use but, again, I don’t know if it is available for tablets.
