Is the ETS 125 EQ a Beast?

A couple of months ago, I met a guy on Marketplace selling an ETS 125 EQ for $75, so I picked it up. It is in good shape with an appropriate amount of body scuffs for its age. The guy even put a new sanding pad on the sander - nice!

Finally got around to using it yesterday and wanted to ask you who may have this sander, it seems like a beast. This is not the gentle 2mm stroke of the REQ. This thing feels like its tearing it up. I don't know if it's just my imagination, but I felt like it was going at it pretty hard. And seemingly harder than my ETS 125 REQ.

That said, for an old sander, it still works great. Just surprised at its ferocity.

Any thoughts?

I would remove the pad and ensure that it was installed correctly. When functioning correctly, It should feel identical in the hand to your ETS 125 REQ. But if the pad isn’t sitting correctly, the “imbalance” that it creates can make it feel “more aggressive” when it’s just not balanced.
There also the possibility that the pad itself could be causing the issue. You can swap pads with your REQ to prove that out.
