Is there a comparable product to this British plier here in North Amercia?

I take it the primary feature is that the jaws stay parallel without being closed all the way?

The key is its ability to "bite" and grab.

Reminds me of Manley or Sargent parallel jaw pliers that I use for saltwater fishing.

This is why I like to read the FOG.

The jewelry industry does not like serrated jaws as they will scar the soft silver and gold that they use.  But those same plier manufacturers sell to other industries that do allow serrated jaws.  I googled one manufacturer adding "serrated jaws" and found several.
