I thought I read that there was a new version of this sander coming, is this true?

Yes, as mentioned in a previous post, the ES 125, RS 400 and DS 400 sanders are being upgraded to the ETS 125, RTS 400 and DTS 400's. The RTS is currently available, but the ETS 125 and RTS 400's will be available soon there-after. Prices will remain the same.

The ES 125 is pretty sweet right now. What does the upgrade consist of?

Michael,

The 3 sanders are have internal changes only. The outside looks the same. The word is that they will be smoother and more durable during heavy duty use. I never had any problems before, so that means just more "SWEET!". Leave it to Festool to improve on an already good thing.

I can't offer any first-hand-experiences with the new line of sanders. This is the information Festool Australia provides:
----------------------------
What is the difference between the new compact sanders and previous models? New technology concealed discreetly in the housing to so that at first glance only the "T" in the name reveals what the inner mechanism holds in store. For example, the new two-row bearings and the inner housing made from cast aluminum.

These features combine to make the new compact sander more robust and more attractive.

----------------------------

Hope this helps,

Christian
