Festool Sawstop . We knew it was coming, but of course, NAINA.  It makes perfect sense, or does it? For those of us who will have access, will it appear in your shop?

When I saw it demo’d I really liked it, mainly for the safety but in it’s current form it doesn’t meet my needs.

I want the push pull facility, so I have my eye on something else.
As far as I know, the push pull facility cannot be implemented with the SawStop tech, which is a shame.
Other than that, it a superb saw, and very portable, I think it will sell well.

Makes sense, why should a technology that was developed in America by
an American and fought for so intently for years be available in America.

To quote Festool's website: "Your fingers – invaluable!" *

Quit the whiney sarcasm, you somehow forgot you've got SawStop saws already?!?!?

I'm not whining, I have no intention of buying a FT branded SawStop saw or a SawStop,
so it doesn't impact me either way. It just strikes me odd that something that was developed
here is not available here. Yes, you can buy a JSS from SawStop, which I hear they just came
out with a new model, but you can't get this new Festool version apparently if that is what you
want. And no doubt there are ways around that, not opening that can of worms here.

Since I already have a SS, there would be no need to get one.  I had considered an Erika before I got the SS but the $4000 price tag made the decision a lot easier.  It was not a stretch to figure out why ToolTechnic bought them as besides the brake technology patents they wanted, the SS brand is highly successful on its on merits. it does give Steve Gass the satisfaction that he was not only the first to market with something truly extraordinary but something that could not be easily duplicated without patent violation. That wheel had already been invented and there was no need to spend a bizillion dollars trying to recreate it.

The price of a Saw Stop up to the cabinet grade SS will still be less expensive then this CS 70. We really dont need it here. The Job Site saw will do the same thing for half the cost.

Toolfest is selling the CS70 EBG for ₤1975 todays conversion is $2404.

The saw stop cabinet saw is $2999 so why would anyone in the US get the CS70?

the contractors saw $2066

And the site saw is $1399

Once you get into all the saw stops doodads they start to add up and become pricey.

Personally , when I move and get a big enough shop, Ill sell my CMS GE with the TS 75 module and get me a jet/powermatic saw.
but thats just me.

Apples and oranges. CS70 is portable and provides unique cross cutting capability.

Oh first I dont get all hung up on the technology and saw stop cabinet grade saw is running about $3299 depending on the model and accessories and the Jet I want 3hp is about $2599

The powermatic I want is about $2199

Both of those are very good saws with great fences.

Ive been looking at used ones to. even better prices.

Many Festool users say dust extraction is one of the main reasons they go with Festool...the SawStop, thanks to its dust collection blade guard (hooked up to  dedicated vac), is arguably the best in dust collection in any brands of cabinet or contractor/jobsite saws.

I have the SawStop Industrial model and the dust collection was very good. I hooked up a dedicated Festool vac to the overarm dust collector/blade guard and the dust collection is fantastic.

I shopped Powermatic and SawStop before buying a SawStop. My opinion is that, even without the safety feature, the SawStop is a superior product by far.

[member=37411]ear3[/member] - From my understanding, it is a perceived safety issue having to do with accidental loss of power.  If power is lost during tool operation, regulators do not like that the tool will automatically start right up when power is restored.  You would think they could design something into the switch assembly, but I'm not qualified to judge that.

[member=10147]jobsworth[/member]  - Makes perfect sense!  However, you are a professional that I'm guessing has some extensive experience with table saws.  I'm just a hobbyist that knows just enough to be dangerous...  That, and as a paramedic I have run table saw accidents before - never pretty.

The CMS sold here has a magnetic switch. If power is lost, the switch diconnects the tool by opening. The tool mounted in the CMS will not restart.
