Jessem Router Table

Great choice!
I bought this Jessem table and setup 10+ years ago -
Mounted a dedicated PC7518 to it.
Great power and variable speed.
Then I “hosed“ a Dust Deputy and Festool CT33 (still runnin’) to it.

I strongly recommend a couple of dedicated offset wrenches for the PC7518 -
To make router bit changes easy. I hang ‘em on hooks attached to the table legs.

The offset wrenches will make changes easier but the easiest solution is the Eliminator Chuck.  I've been using one since it was originally offer...waaay back when.  It extends the chuck and only requires an allen wrench.  This is especially useful to me as I use the Keen dust collection which has a silicone cup that that fits over the chuck and works better with the extended chuck.

Very timely and bookmarked! Will be purchasing this later in the year. This will definitely come in handy. I’ll be outfitting it with the porter cable. My only question is the top looks like it may scratch easily. Almost like a saw stop extension table which I found a scratches  easily.
Any comments?

Will the stock guides fit in the black T track outfeed fence? Or will they only fit in the upper gold track?

Did the kit come with the swinging arm type bit safety guard?

Yes the stock guides fit in both T-tracks
The swinging guard is part of the TA Fence

How do you like it? Do you ever experience any excessive vibration?
I'm tempted but skeptical. Traditional collet is self centering, while Eliminator is not. I do see some small variation of shank diameters between bits.

Yes the top might be easy to scratch but it's rock solid. I am really impressed by all part of that table. The only thing that I was worrie about is the lift package do not include the instructions. I did put it together without any problem. The instruction are available from Jessem website tho.

I bought the Musclechuck some years ago and have used it almost exclusively since then in my router table (which has a AUKTools motor in it, because PC type units with a motor only are *very* hard to come by here in Europe). I have to say that I am very satisfied with it. No vibration, no slipping, it just works. I do have a set of different sized collets for it, but have to admit that I did not try the largest ones yet. There is some trepidation doing that. Somehow I feel it is better to stick with a traditional chuck for 10 and 12 mm shanks. However, for 6 mm, 1/4", and 8 mm shanks it is a wonderful accessory. Maybe I should just try the larger ones sometime shortly...  [embarassed]

All in all I really like this Musclechuck.

First use of the table a few days ago. It was my very first experience with a router table. I did some round over on some shelves  [eek] wow couldn't be easier then that. It's a simple task I know  [embarassed]

Very happy with the package so far.

then, there is storage to build under the router table!  I used to have a Jointech fence.  JoinTech is now out of business unfortunately.  The guy that owned the company had plans for a cabinet I built many years ago.  It had really nice drawers for bits.  I ended up making a few changes and no longer have that cabinet.  My new router table has a few features I want, but the stand made out of 2x4s and plywood does not have drawers.  Some day.

Yes, storage under the table is a must no doubt. I plan to make systainer inserts that will also slide like a drawer under the table. Here my base design in Easel

I will be using those bit holders from L.V.

They are taper and the bits are easy to remove. I have 50 of each to start with  [big grin]

I can get the original readout for about 100$ and the one from jessem is 162$ but come with a plate specifically made to fit on the Jessem strand. I was wondering if this is the only difference from the original.

The excell package make raising/lowering the router bit so easy  [big grin] No tool to worry about.
The stand, feet & casters make the table extremely rigid, stable and easy to move.

Are you talking about one that attaches directly to the lift mechanism, or a free standing gauge like the Wixey WR200?

Mario, thanks for the extended post. I’m looking at the Jessem (recommended by others here).
The ALTS stand has aluminum extruded legs, it looks like there are tracks one can slip plywood in to enclose the legs? If I get this I would like to make a dust collection box for it.

Regarding a motor: I looked at the Jessem Pow-R-Tek but it seems to be off the market now per Amazon, and there is only one really devastating review. Too bad because remote speed control would be great.

Another choice, which will fit the lift, is the Milwaukee 5625-20, a 3.25 hp beast. It has electronic speed control but not remotely controlled.

Any advice on a motor from others more experienced?
I do have a Bosch 1617 (IIRC) I can use for the time being if I get the Jessem setup.
