Jessem TA Fence

[member=66875]simonh[/member]

I’m curious how you attached your router table to the MFT extrusions. Is this actually attached to your CMS-VL? Would you be able to post a few pictures of your setup both close up and at a distance? I’m working on possibly doing something similar.

Thanks in advance for any help :)

I use the Jessem router tabletop and lift. I used a CMS-VL with longer MFT side pieces.  It drops inside the MFT extrusions.  I had to cut the size down slightly and make a rabbet to fit the CMS-VL.  I then bolted the TA fence extensions onto the extrusions.

If I were to have my time over again (and given it's now available in the UK) I'd probably just buy the Ultimate Excel II Package!

Here's a couple of pictures:

[member=66875]simonh[/member] I have a few questions if you don't mind answering;

How you like the Incra cleansweep in general, would you recommend it?
Is it made of metal or any plastic parts?
If my router bit lock mechanism is under, would it be easy to access?
Do you use the standard Jessem insert?
Do the blast gate is accumulating saw dust?

Thanks!

The Jessem Ultimate Excel II Package should be here this week (cross fingers) and I'm trying to find the best solution to capture saw dust.

Do you know if the Clear Cut guides can be used in the black adjustable outfeed fence face instead of in the gold upper T track?

I can't seem to find that swinging guard on the Jessem site?

Would it be easier to attach the LS Positioner without the vac DC on the back of the fence?

Mario,

I like the clean sweep as it saves a lot of cleanup and dust been thrown around.  The grey parts are plastic, the front and back doors are powder-coated steel.  I'd say it would be difficult to access the router once it is in place.  I use the router lift prestige with a Dewalt plunge router and the Musclechuck so I don't ever go underneath the table unless I need to alter the router speed.  If operating without dust extraction and the blast gate closed it says to keep the door fully open to avoid overheating the motor of the router.

I'm not sure the CleanSweep will fit the Excel II as you have the crank for height adjustment underneath the table, also looking at the pictures it looks like there are some aluminium stiffeners right about where the CleanSweep would mount.  I'm sure I saw somewhere the Excell II comes with a dust shroud mounted underneath the table (not fully enclosed) that can connect up to a dust extraction?

Seth,

The Clear cut guide fit in either the gold track or in the black track on the moveable fences.

The swinging guard comes as part of the Mite-R-Slide II accessory.  The fixed guard is supplied with the standard fence.

If you take off the black vac port on the back there's just a big square hole in the aluminium.  So, there'd be no metal that you could tap to bolt the Incra steel bracket to.  Also, you'd need a thicker plate to lift the Incra higher so the steel bracket cleared the aluminium extrusion on the Jessem if that makes sense.

Hope that helps. But let me know if you have any further questions as I know how hard it is trying to find information.

Thanks for the pictures! I understand now how you attached it. I've been debating cutting an Incra or Jessem top down to size to work with the CMS-VL. I also saw a guy here on the FOG who adapted a CMS-PS insert to accept the Jessem Prestige router lift that you have. I thought it was really cool. And your idea of using the longer extrusions is brilliant by the way!

If you made your custom brackets an inch or so deeper would it make it easier to hook up dust collection on the back of the TA Fence? I'm strongly considering making some brackets out of aluminum and trying to anodize them black  [eek]... I'm not sure how that will go but I imagine it would make everything quite rigid.

This is kind of a side question but I was wondering if two CMS-VLs could be connected to each other? I imagine it should work as the VL has the same extrusions that the MFT/3 has. I realize it would be really expensive but I was thinking how cool it would be to have the TS-75 module in one CMS-VL and a router top in the other CMS-VL. That way you could use the LS Positioner as a fence for both.

Any thoughts?
