Just received an email from JessEm about this new tool due in mid August

I like this design rather innovative in my opinion, I was looking at marking gauges today, and I wasn't really impressed with what I found.  Price is a bit steep when compared to what is out there.

I dig it, just wish it was available in metric.

Obviously been designed specifically for the aerospace industry [wink] [big grin]

I'd consider a metric one if the JessEm Monks are listing! [cool]

I emailed them already asking if a metric version would be available - will share their response (but I'd encourage all interested to email as well).

Yesterday was trying to compute the halfway mark of a drawer front. Realized I had metric on the other side of my Paolini rule. Flipped it over, divided by 2 and I am converted to metric now, lol.

Jessem wrote me back asking for the metric version:

Absolutely, coming soon.  We will advise as soon as it is ready.

Pinged Jessem again on this, here's what I got back:

We had some set backs with the Metric Marking Gauge and have not proceed with it in a few months. As of right now, I am not sure when we will have them ready to ship. I am hoping sooner rather than later.

Popping this thread, I just emailed with Jessem - they are going to produce a metric version of this.  Not sure if Woodpeckers product prodded them or what - but I think the Jessem one is preferred and will be ordering one (or two).

Weeks - here's the response:

I just got out of a meeting before lunch with the plant manager and the
owner and they will be ordering in the material this afternoon. Will arrive
on Monday or Tuesday and then they will have someone write the program. Give
us a couple weeks and we should have it finally completed.

FWIW I have the Imperial version of the Jessem and pre-ordered the 6" Imperial version of the Woodpeckers. Looking forward to comparing the two. The Jessem is very nicely built and really cool. Be nice if it could hole a marking pencil like the Woodpeckers though.

Nice, thank you!  I was pondering the metric WP gauge, I'll hold off now.

For anyone who's used this -- is there an issue with the detents, whereby you run into problems setting a line close to (but not on) the 1/2" intervals (say 15/32, or 33/64ths?), as sometimes happens with mitre saws?

I wondered about this too and was thinking the micrometer adjustment may have a range slightly greater than the 1/2" increments, say +/- .0325 or .125". So that if your set at 1/2" with the micrometer you can adjust from .4375" to 1.125" or on the micrometer from -.125 to +.625 without having to snap to the next 1/2" increment.

But that's pure guess, my gauge is still in the mail and won't arrive for a couple more days. After seeing this thread when it got resurrected I watched the YT video and ordered one direct from JessEm. Their price was lower than any other place I found online, some sellers were 50% (+ shipping) higher than JessEm from whom shipping was free.

The detent measurement increments are just to get you there quickly with a bit of a positive "lock" feedback. Once you are there you can fine tune the measurement with the micrometer style fine adjuster. Its very easy to accurately set any distance you need.

What is the adjustment range of the micrometer, 1/2" or >1/2" ?
