Not sure about that, im sure it would help with machining but how long will the planer blades actually last having to cut through glue over the whole surface of a board.
I honestly would rather spend the extra time drum sanding with maybe a 40 grit to prevent tear out, I spend about the same amount of time sitting and filling in all the little holes.....and then having to touch up the holes i miss after I have added stain or finish.
One thing im really looking forward to with the drum sander is sanding down the thin frames i use on my display cabinets instead of rounding off all the crisp edges with a orbital sander.
