Jigsaw cutting station

Hey [member=71478]FestitaMakool[/member] thanks for the demo.  [big grin]  That's exactly the information I needed to see.

The jig saw blade drift you mention is probably very similar to band saw blade drift which requires the band saw fence to be "calibrated" to compensate for the blade angle.

So...it looks like I'll be keeping the Trion and looking for a CMS PS 300 insert and selling the Carvex.  [smile]

[member=44099]Cheese[/member] You’re welcome!

I must say, if one is not very thrilled about a cordless jig saw, and the special bases for Carvex - the Trion is an excellent choice. I like D handle with trigger that are speed sensitive. You can always hold an D handle saw upside down like a barrel grip’d...
And with the BiMetal blade in the module (or any upside down use) I felt that it actually was very usable.

Having just acquired a Metabo BAS 261 band saw, and setting this up, adjusting the table, blade guides and everything, I noticed, when the blade has ever so slightly toe in towards the fence it’s easier to get better results. The same with the jig saw in the CMS-PS 300 module. One will have to watch out when switching side of the fence in relation to the blade though.

On a note here regarding the mentioned Metabo saw, I found it very well made with induction motor so it runs amazingly quiet, the blade guides are all large ball bearings, the table is cast iron, the fence isn’t bad. The sliding protractor fence is toy-ish, but I have a Alu fence I’ll adapt to it. All in all for $259 it’s actually amazing value. Hereby recommended!

There’s a few ways to make a table jig for jig saw use upside down, I’ve found a couple of good YouTube videos on the matter. One of them being this:

Cutting accurately with a jigsaw .... now that's an excersise in futility.

lol. Def not true. But I understand the sentiment.

The blade is always going to wander off.

Oh, NOOooeezzz.... Of all 5000 thousand jigsaw manufactureres there's the one that's the most expensive jigsaw on the planet that totally obliterates my argument!

Now how did I know someone would eventually bring up the Mafell. 1 out of 5000. Blimey.
