For those not aware of it, this was posted on John's web site,

John is in the hospital recovering from surgery.
He had a very nasty gallbladder removed and spent some time in intensive care, but he is on the mend.

His recovery may take some time, but I expect he'll be back in the woodshop and on the site very soon.

Steve-CO, thank you for the information and I know all of us are wishing John a speedy and successful recovery. Fred

John, I wish you a speedy recovery and return to both your shop and this forum.

The how-to material that you published on your web site was a very strong influence convincing me to make my first Festool purchases a little more than four years ago.  Thanks!

Steve,
Thank you for sharing this information.  John is a great guy and a valuable member of this forum.
Like Frank, John's Web site was one of my original inspirations for buying my first Festool tool.
Let's all stay up to date on his progress, and hope he's back in his shop again soon working with his assistants!
Matthew

Get well soon buddy, if your assistants need something to do in the meantime send them my way.  ;)

I just checked in to John's site to see his latest demo for the month of April.  I see a lot of you already know he is laid up.

I hope you will be back on your feet very soon, John.

With things warming up outside, maybe that will help.

Hey John - Here's to getting healthy. I went through gallbladder surgery myself (I'm guessing that you must have had an infected bile duct to have ended up in IC). Unfortunately my hotshot surgeon screwed up and didn't completely clip off the bile duct after removing the gallbladder. You can imagine what having 100 mls of bile sloshing around on your liver and intestines feels like. It took a full 6 weeks to recover. My advice - eat high-protein foods (lots of eggs, and the low-fat, high protein Ensure), get some exercise, and take your time to recover. Once you're back to health, you'll be really glad to have that puppy out. No more of that excruciating pain, and you can eat all the fatty foods you want!

Thinking of you,
Poto

Get well John. Looking forward to your demo of the Kapex. Who will be the lucky assistant. You have good choices. Relax and enjoy the opening of baseball season.

Same from me, John.  And thank you, Frank for putting it so well.

All my best,

John

Hope you get better soon John. I too would help your assistants keep busy. ;D

Hope you get better.  My wife just had her gall bladder out 3 weeks ago.  She began with severe pains late on a Monday night and we went to the ER.  Later she was released, yet the pain returned shortly after returning home.  I had a Doctor appointment the next morning and she was to have one the following day -- she rescheduled so we both went in together, but a few hours later we were back at the ER.  This time they decided it was in fact the gall bladder and it needed to come out.  That's been three weeks now, and she has recovered well.  I know these thing are no fun at all, but we'll all be sending positive thoughts your direction and hope for your speedy recovery.

Get well soon. Feel free to act cranky when you get back online.  ;D ;D ;D

We all laugh and joke about John's assistants.  There have been mentions about his influence towards introduction to the Slippery Slope of the Festool world.  i have been victimised  ??? :o ::) ;D as much as anybody by his wonderful demonstrations.

for me, the influence has been, not so much the tools he has shown us, but i am constantly amazed at how well he can put together so much info in so little space using so much immagination.  He has been so analytical in his approaches to the use of so many tools he has never seen or used until he has put them up on his site.

John, for all of your efforts, I thank you.  Your influence has gone far beyond the mere display of the tools and how best to use them.  You have helped many of us in ways we cannot adequately express.

I am hoping and praying for your speedy recovery

John,

Best wishes for a speedy recovery.  Just think of all those lovely shop assistants waiting for your return to the shop!

Regards,

Dan.
