So I picked up this jointer yesterday starting the refurbishing next week. Any one know the part number for the scotch brite type pads for the RAS 115, can't seem to find them listed any where.  Any advise for polishing the bed? The last top I used the scotch brite pads on the RAZ, any thing better?

Zee,

Part numbers are as follows

80 grit, 484165
180 grit, 484166

Both are 10 packs

Thanks for the part # could not find them any where

Its a 12 inch Louis E. Rechtin, Think it was made by Crescent and sold by them. Made some where between 1902 and 1920.

Some one has changed out the original two knife head with a 4 knife.  I may put a helical head in it or just sandblast paint and sell it. I saved it from going to scrap so I don't have to much in it.  The bed is in pretty good shape no pitting just light surface rust.

Think I will keep the 882 for now and see how I like the boat. I would like to find a 16" or bigger long bed, might see if I can off load the 12 and 8 and get at least a 16".

Forgot to put in, we have them Here

It's a beautiful machine, good luck with the restoration.

I would not use grease in those bearings, as it looks like some one set it up that way.

There is a spot for a felt wick in the lower half of the bearing housing.

Fill the wells, get it shimmed right and enjoy a bearing set up that will last longer then any ball bearing.

It is a Crescent, the other tag is from a machinery dealer.

Like the mobile stand and the paint job.  The jointer will serve you for years to come. looks like is was built to last for ever.
