Up until now, I've been jointing an edge with the track saw.  Now, that I have the CMS GE Set, I'm curious if anyone is using it as a jointer...and 2. - if so, what are their favorite router bits to use? Also, 3. - I have a project coming up using 8/4 hardwood...what router bit would you use for that? Thanks ahead of time!

I use the CMS for jointing at times. My preference is the TS.

The bit I use is a CMT 3/4" x 2" shear cut bit, 1/2" shank. I don't have the number off hand, I order them from Tom at Tool Home, he'll have the number of the bit I use.

That would be this one.

EDIT:
I though maybe you were taking both bearings off...

Yes sir, thats the bit to use.

No need to take the lower bearing off (the bearing closets to the router when in a table) it is below the ring in the table.

I have the 1/2" diameter bits, I like the mass of the 3/4" bit much better and the sheer cut is very smooth.

Thanks, Tom, Tom, and Sparktrician! Yes, Tom, a 1/2" shank with a 3/4" wide bit makes a lot of sense.

yup some of us do use it as a jointer

Thanks! Yes, I can see how the CMS would be great for jointing short pieces.  I would have liked to see the user in the first video use a push stick...it's just complete Bu/! $h!x that I spent $1600 on a CMS GE set and a cheap plastic push stick wasn't included! This guy maybe would have used it if he had one.  Making money off of accessories is one thing, but when you shell out that kind of money and they can't include a cheap plastic safety necessity just gave me a ticked off-bad taste. In a state of disbelief,  I kept looking for it on the table...thinking that it was just hidden in a place that I couldn't see. I just couldn't believe that it wasn't included! Not cool.

I've got the push stick hanging on my CMS, didn't cost my a dime. I traded a free t-shirt for the push stick at one of the shows., figured what the hell dosen't hurt to ask.

Thank goodness, Tom!  You are obviously experienced, but it was still tough for me to watch you have your hands on that small piece.  Glad that I don't have to worry about you.
