JULY 2008: PS 300 or PSB 300 Jigsaw

My .02

The decision for the winning project was not a unanimous one. That does not invalidate the win (congratulations Paul!). I dont think we should expect to please everyone and dissagreement is not necessarily bad. The decision has been made and there is no taking it back because a few people dont like it. We can and should in the future stick to the guidelines of the contest and grade each contender accordingly.

there is nothing wrong with a descision not being unanimous

the most important (supreme) courts of law in both england and america

AND and most other countries in the world

always have a panel of judges (an odd number) to make descisons

the result is generally on a vote

on this forum we did MUCH better than that

in our penultimate vote there WAS a split

however

the ONE discenting voice in the panel did change his view

so the FINAL descision was NOT a vote

it was unnanimous

and no

the forum does not get to know the reasons why final descision is as it is

nor do you get to know the reason why a judge had a different choice

that is for the judges alone

Congratulations Paul,
I really liked the systainer port thread! I still haven't built one yet, but I spent many enjoyable hours designing one that would work for me. This is the kind of thread that keeps me checking in on the FOG. While the tools are the best, we only get a new one released occasionally. The "Do It Yourself" upgrades or enhancements of Festools should be encouraged in the contest guidelines. Points for"Inspirational" content sound good. Mirko's hole drilling jig comes to mind as another example.

Also the judges might take a note from the TV game shows and post your short list of "Finalists" as Brice & Dirty Deeds did before the end of the month. Might generate more interest in the contest and less to the Way Off Topic board. ;D
