Jumbo MFT open distance between top and support

I am building up a Jumbo MFT and would ask for advice on the height of the open space under the top to allow clamping.  The top will be supported by a welded steel frame bolted to a scissors lift platform.  I want to keep the open space height to a minimum so the table can go as low as possible.  I was planning on 6 inches, but noted that at least one J-MFT has 10 inches of clearance.  What has been the experience of the FOG.

Hey Woodenewe
I have a rolling cabinet underneath my MFT and I can just fit a clamp from the top of the cabinet through the bottom of the table surface. You have to turn the clamp diagonally to fit it up through the holes.
I believe the clearance is around 9 inches. I'll check for sure when I get home today.
I'm pretty sure 6 inches won't be enough to set up clamps from underneath the table (which is pretty handy at times).
If you don't mind clamping everything from on top of the MFT surface, 6 inches should be plenty.

I just checked. The height between the cabinet top and the bottom side of the MFT surface is 7 and 1/4 inches.
Just enough for a quick-clamp or the smaller twist type clamp to mount through the MFT surface from underneath.

I am only in the design phase and will leave 12" height. I do like my table higher than the usual.

My back dictates I bend over as little as possible and 12" will just make the top a little higher, rather than stealing space from below. Plus I will be able to reach to the back if I have to, easily, instead of walking around the unit. 6" is definitley not enough. To me 9" is a good minimum.

I want a 44" high table top unit(right now I have wood legs making the top 44" high) so the 12" space will work for me.

Ahhhhh, one of my favorite topics.  I have spent a lot of time w sketchup and looking for materials.  Unfortunately I have done nothing else!

Search Jumbo and you will se a link to some dandy mfts.
