Warning: Once my wife finds out, I may be killed....

I just purchased an MFT/3 from Amazon (out for delivery today) and a TS55 REQ at 40% off in the Reconditioned Sale, to replace a bosch table saw whose motor just bought the farm.  I've been trying hard to break out of the 'table saw is the middle of the shop' mentality - I'm going to give this my best shot.

I think the only way I'm going to survive this (back to the wife comment) is to build a new kitchen. :)

Josh in Columbus.

First off.... [welcome]

That being said, you have no idea how much you need to bamboozle your wife, because you are about to enter the "Green Zone", and resistance is futile! [crying]

Start saving your shekels. You're going to need them!! [scared]

Cheers,

Frank

Hi,

  Welcome to the forum!  [smile]

You will find lots of info here about squaring the MFT, and about replacing a table saw with the TS55 MFT combo .

Americans don't get the fast brake -'B' in type' ?

Over here if you buy one with 'E', you also get the 'B'.

Congrats on your purchases. The TS55 is a nice saw, the 'R' even nicer.

Well, unfortunately you are just starting - - - ;D, you are absolutly going to need a dust extractor (stronly recommend for your next purchase - -tell the wife it will help you be healthy), several sanders, absolutely a dominio - -just to start with

I just did the same thing.  Got a TS55 2 weeks ago and bought a used MFT over the weekend.  They have already saved me hours of build time on my most recent project (installing a nice plywood bench/bed in the back of a friends tailgating van).  My wife says if i can get things done faster, Festool is worth the price.  Although I've only been lurking here for about a week, the knowledge and experience of the FOG community has been invaluable in answering every question I've had so far.  I see more Festool in my future...

[welcome]

Oooh a kitchen?  Hmmmmm i guess to make it easier you will also need a domino, CXS, a couple of sanders and at least a midi  ;D

I think it's down to being 110v. In the uk the 240v version is braked, the 110v version is unbraked.

[welcome] You are starting on an exciting journey, learning new words (NAINA) and raiding your kids colleage funds to feed the addiction.... After you spend like $10k you might feel like you get a handle on things... (yeah, right.....).

[Welcome]

You'll need to upgrade to a Festool compatible wife or buy the conversion kit.

Another thing we have better over here  [tongue]. College is $2400 per year for everyone

Well the MFT/3 arrived, and aside from the fact that UPS and Amazon beat the crap out of it in shipping, it looks pretty good.  I'm not sure if Support or Amazon is my best recourse - the main front extrusion is completely wasted.. I can't imagine shipping an entire table makes sense, maybe they can just send me the part?  So is life.... this will get resolved, I'm not concerned.

But yeah - great first step!

Festool will fix this for you, email them or Shane directly. Nice to see someone who does not get bent out of shape (sorry!) with something like this!

Yeah it's not a huge deal. I can already tell based on the opinions of the community that the customer service is amazing, so I figure by tomorrow I'll have things on the road to correction.  I can't wait to play with this thing :)

Should he not reach out to the selling dealer first?  so they can get compensation from the shipper?

I'll follow whatever process Shane asks. Amazon is already on notice and ready to help if needed. Just rather not have to repack a 75lb box just to hope next time is better.

Based on what I have seen here on the FOG, and the level of service from Festool USA, I would say getting in touch with Festool directly would be the way to go.

Based on my 15+ years of worldwide shipping, I say good luck getting any 'compensation' from any shipper! ::)

I have given up on Amazon for bulky or heavy items. The quality of packing has deteriorated to the point of non-existence and I don't understand why they allow this to happen. Waste of some serious money... If I would run this company heads would roll....

Yeah I've gotten so used go Amazon prime, and really good results, I probably gave such a large item too much faith for delivery. It happens. But I definately agree, the packaging leaves something to be desired.
