Kapex 120 EB problem or not?

Hey all, looking for a little advice if poss.
I've just bought a brand new Kapex 120 and noticed a potential problem and wondered if it's normal or not.
Basically the saw seems to have a very fine film of black oil on the back of it which seems to be from a vent on the back of the motor. I've cleaned it up and it seems ok but for anyone using the Kapex is this normal for a new saw?
Also is it an ongoing thing that the saw will constantly blow oil out or is it simply because it's brand new?

It's a UK saw so if there is an issue I can return/exchange it under the 14 day return policy I guess.

Many thanks.

Hi
Welcome to the forum
The chances are this is from the brushes and is nothing to worry about. You can call our service centre on Monday if needed.

Hi Phil,
Is this a thing that happens when new sometimes, is it just over-lubing??

FWIW it's not from the arbour or anything like that. I've not cut anything yet but I have run the motor and there doesn't appear to be any more coming from the vent.
Love the weight of the saw though for such a massive depth of cut.:-)

I believe that he wrote "Basically the saw seems to have a very fine film of black oil on the back of it which seems to be from a vent on the back of the motor."

No mention of smoke.

Nothing to worry about, it's been mentioned on here a few times. Usually does it when stored on its side when fitted to the UG stand. Grease/oil oozes out from a joint in the saw around the vents at the back.

That was pretty passive aggressive. I think Holmz was only trying to help diagnose a problem. Does your avatar only apply to others?

I just pointed out that the poster didn't mention smoke in his post.

It's normal to have the black oily patch behind the vent on back of Kapex, if you wipe it off it just comes back again.

They usually have reports smoke after the trial period.
So my diagnosis was a bit tongue in cheek.  [wink]

I thought peter showed some good restraint as he clearly understood the nuance of my question.

Is everyone finding this with their Kapex (black film keeps coming back)?

I work a lot with another joiner and can't remember seeing it on his Kapex in the past...I'll have a look next week though when I see him.
