Guys,
I took off the blade and plate to remove the guard to give it all a clean and get the build up of dust out etc.
I can see the connection to the actual clear guard but not find where inside it connects.

Did the same thing and just ended up calling the service center line (US)  [embarassed]  It's way up there and hard to see.

Hope you can call Festool in Australia?  Also, put the spring in my notes of spare parts to order when I get around to it.

Good Luck!  Sam

It is easy to locate.  I pull my guard off every week so that I can get in and clean up in near the laser.
On the hub you will see the end that the spring fits in.  If you follow that place you will see a recess that angles up and forward in the casing.  About 7cm's up, there is a recess further in where the belled end of the spring fits.  Put the spring in there and once located, you can pull down and locate the other end on your guard, then slide it over the housing hub, put in the flat steel shim and then the 3 retaining screws.  If you cannot see what I am describing, I will take some pictures next time I have the guard off and point out the location for you.
