Kapex 120 Reviews

Aside from the previous issues with the motor, what's the general feedback on the Kapex 120?

I have looked in detail at the KSC60 and feel that it lacks too many features for me, I also have  a smaller Dewalt Mitre saw that fits that gap.

Although I would probably be looking at taking the 120 with me to wherever I work, which won't be very frequent.

I can't even recall exactly when I bought my 120, I think it was around 2010. I did have a problem with the small linkage arm at the rear, which was a common issue in the end I believe, but it was repaired and replaced with a better design linkage while new.

Since then it's been lugged around everywhere, used and slightly abused, but has been a rock solid machine. Easily the best SCMS I've ever owned. I love it. With the thicker hose the dust extraction is just fantastic, not perfect, but exceptionally good for a chop saw.

Couldn't recommend if high enough, if it ever failed on me, I'd buy another in a heart beat.

The optional moulding stops are also a very useful addition for it, well worth the cost I reckon.

It is a little bulky being a saw, but it compacts reasonably well and carrying it around isn't at all onerous. The hand grips are well designed to make it easy to hold securely while carrying it.

If you're getting the saw from a brick-and-motar store, ask the store ahead if you can bring a straight rule to check the saw's spec. That's its fence and table are within tolerance. Some have complained that the units they received had issues with those aspects. I'd rather swap for a good saw right on the spot than bringing it back days later under warranty.

Other than its price, it's hard not to have the Kapex miter saw if you already have the budget for it. The vertical handle is a non-issue, and anyone who uses hand saws would appreciate its vertical design.

Other than that mine arrived out of square, I can’t say I’ve got any complaints. Certainly had it for 10 years now and made thousands of cuts without any issues.
