For the third time in less than a year our kapex is down for repairs, this time the laser comes on but nothing on the trigger, the first two times it smelled bad and moved a little, warranty was in the first year so Festool covered shipping but now it will be on our ticket. The boss is not impressed, took some convincing to spend the money on a vac and saw, we also have a mini and a ets 125, after the second break down he put a hold on future purchases until the end of the year if the saw makes it to then, so looks like we wont be getting the track saw now, he`s not impressed with this at all.

Ouch! I think Festool now covers shipping for all three years- it's a new policy.

Here's the quote-

Does it cover all tools currently under warranty or tools that were purchased after the change in policy?

All tools currently under warranty.  [thumbs up]

I'd talk to the Festool reps- maybe there's something contributing factor- 'dirty' power, wrong gauge extension cords?

Thanks for the info guys, the guy i talked to at the warranty number didn't mention this to me even after i told him the saw was a year and a half old

We are always careful of power cords, my personal saw is used right along side this one and its going on 4 years old and has never missed a beat

Ended up being the switch this time, very fast turn around

Glad to hear it was just the switch.  Maybe the free shipping and quick turnaround helped ease the opinions on Festool from the boss.

Well its off to the service department once again, looks like the arbor is gone again, boss is really not impressed now, bought a dewalt to keep us going as we got a lemon for a saw

That's a bummer.  My Kapex does not get used everyday but has been terrific.

I just purchased a new Kapex so I am curious to see if I have any issues like the multiple ones that seem to keep popping up.  Now, I'm starting to wonder if the last sale wasn't a move to clear inventory for a new model introduction?  I guess only time will tell but I hope that I don't encounter any of these issues and I'm also wondering if the problem is heavy production use on a lightweight design?  Right now I'm enjoying my Kapex but I don't seem to have as much use for it as a lot of people and setting up my UG stand is just a pain in the butt for just a few cuts.

My personal kapex is over 4 years old, used on the same work sites, using same cords cutting the same material and has never missed a beat, the other one is just a lemon, all companies have them
