Ive had my kapex for about 9 months now,but ive noticed the kapex bevel controller doesnt work now and again. It just spins with a clicking noise.Any thoughts on this?

Jimmy,

vwdave on here was telling me he had a problem with his too.  He called Festool repair and they had him take off the back cover to mess with some plate that's attched to the knob's mechanism.  It didn't solve the problem so he had to send it in for repair.  You might want to first take a look at the workings since it's easy to take the cover off.  Maybe dirty, needs some spray lube?

Jimmy,

Not heard of that particular problem before. At least it's well within warranty. Can you afford to be without it for a few days? If so, I'd just ring Festool UK about it. They'll arrange to collect it from you, and then deliver it back when it's fixed. They usually give the whole machine a once-over too.

I wouldn't advise taking it in to the dealer, as that usually takes a lot longer (though that depends on the dealer of course).

There is a series of three gears between the bevel knob and the rack that rotates the head. These aren't user-adjustable, so your best bet is to send it in for repair. If this is happening at specific locations, then you most likely broke a tooth on one of the gears. If it happens at any position, then most likely the last gear is not engaging with the rack. If it is a broken tooth, you may be able to just replace the gear without sending the saw in for service. You would need to contact Festool for their recommendation.

This is an old picture, so you can just barely see the small spur gear at the handle, but it gives you an idea what is beneath the cover.

Thanks alot for the help.Yeah think ill phone festool uk to sort it.Will they pick it up and drop it off for me?

Jimmy,

Yes, they will.

For the Kapex, they have special transport crates. Ring Festool, and they'll arrange to send UPS round with the crate - you put the saw in, they take it away again. You'll also need to complete a Repair Order Form and put that in the crate too.

Timewise, from when you call it will probably take 4 working days, so for example if you ring them on Monday, UPS will collect it Tuesday, and deliver it to Festool UK on Wednesday. They'll turn it round usually within 24 hours*, so despatch it Thursday for delivery back to you on the Friday.

*The website says 48 hours, but I've never known it take that long for something straightforward. Sometimes they've even despatched stuff back the same day they received it.

I have a new kapex ks88 and this model does not have the bevel controller, what it has on the end of
the slide bar is a cap which spins freely with a washer which acts as a stop to keep the machine on the
slide bars, now I have only used this once and the cap insert has moved out of the slide bar .
I have tried to push it back in but it needs more force, will it go back in with a mallet and not smash the cap?
