I think Festool's arbor size is impressive evidence of general beefiness.

30mm -- that's 1.18 inches

typical 10" chopsaw blade is 5/8", or 0.625 inches, or 15.9mm

typical 12" chopsaw blade is 1", or 1.000 inches, or 25.4mm

All you guys who are arguing for 1/2"-shank router bits should be really impressed by this.

Since I was the one to mention boring a saw blade, I think I should clarify that post. It was only a suggestion, and in this case, I would never take my own advice. : Every now and then we have inquiries about, "Does Forest make a blade to fit the Festool xyz?" or "Where else can I....?" To me, what is to be gained? Festool makes great blades at competitive prices and they FIT. Case closed.

Biggest problem with boring a saw blade would be getting the hole right in the middle. If the hole is off center not all teeth will cut. I once had an issue with a saw sharpening shop which was only sharpening 60 out of 64 teeth on my Makita miter saw blade and needless to say it was the 4 dull teeth doing all the work

For some reason they thought the stock Makita LS1013 blade was 60 teeth instead of 64 teeth.

It wasn't until I took the blade to another saw sharpener and asked him to look it over. He took two seconds to identify the four missed teeth. I ended up buying an 80 tooth FS Tool blade from him and getting the 64 tooth blade sharpened as well.

Now I have a "crud" blade and a fine tooth blade for miter work
