Kapex dim Lasers and blade flinging grease???

Shop is reporting that the right side laser is dimmed down the the point where it is hardly visible while the left is as bright as can be.  We have noticed that the blade is flinging a lot of grease.  Cleaned the guard and on the first cut a lot of grease was flung on the guard again.  I suspect that is what is obscuring the laser.  Anyone else experienced this?  How to fix?

Like Hopper suggested, there's likely something on the lens. Cleaning it will solve the issue with the brightness of the laser.

As for the oily substance, it can be produced if some of the oil separates from the grease in the saw. This does not cause any long term issues with the operation or longevity of the saw. It's usually the result of environmental conditions, or if the saw has been stored in a vertical orientation.

Hate to tell you. Most likely your seal behind the blade is leaking. Had the same thing happen on 2 different units. Pull the blade off and see if there is grease behind the black spacer.

Gary, I don't think the seal is/was the problem. This has been reported by a few members on the forum. The problem does not persist and is temporary. If it was a seal, it would not self-correct. It's just some of the oil separating from the grease. I've spoken to our service team about this to make sure I have a good understanding of the issue to help support our customers.

You may be right. I am only sharing my experience with him. Had 2 saws with the same problem. When I looked at the seal it had grease all around it. It would build up and sling out onto the blade guard and right laser. The third saw blew the motor after 18 months. I'm waiting on the fence for something to change before I try #4.

I just started experiencing a problem with my lasers.  My left laser is very dim.  I spoke with one of the service techs and they recommended adjusting the laser in case the blade was blocking it.  That didn't work.  Then they said to clean the lens cover.  That didn't work either.  Any other recommendations?  I'm trying to troubleshoot myself so I'm not without the saw if I have to send it in for repairs.

Can you see if the laser is hitting the blade.  If it gets too far out of adjustment this could be the cause.  Remember to to stare directly into the laser but you may see it hitting the blade teeth.  Have you removed the saw blade to see if both lasers then shine brightly?  Since dust can get inside the laser lens cover,  it can also somewhat get the actual lasers lens.  If all other checks fail see if after removing the lens cover, if blowing off the lasers themselves will help.
