Kapex Error Calculation

Good Afternoon,
Just got my Kapex set up and checked error according to p24 of Supplemental Manual.  I have several questions about this:
    1. Is the Factory Spec of +/- 0.16 calculated using the formula embedded in the Supplemental Manual?
    2. Using the data from my test: cut 4 offcut left width = 0.194, right width = 0.189 and length = 6.06, error= 0.013
Is this acceptable from the factory, or can it practically get better?
    3. Manually calculating the hypotenuse from the width difference & length, and plugging in, 1/4 of arcsin = 0.008
            Why the difference?
I'm not sure any of this makes much difference; just want to make sure I'm dialed in as tight as possible.
Thanks,

Don

My guess is you made a rounding error somewhere in your calculations, probably when computing the hypotenuse. An easier route is to remember that tan is the ratio of y/x (or opposite/adjacent), so taking the arctan gets you there in one step. My calculator gives me 0.012º error, which is essentially the same as the supplemental manual's calculations.

Cut the end off a piece of 9x1, put a square on the cut end and hold it up to the light, if you can't see any light shining through its near enough  [wink]

Thank you Doug! [big grin]  That formula was making my brain hurt! [blink]

Cheers,
Frank

That's exactly what I was thinking.
Being a whizz at maths is great but sometimes, you get the best results by keeping it simple.
