Kapex extension wings on MFT/3?

Hello,

Can somebody who has  the extension wings for the Kapex test that these fit on the MFT/3?
And are they flush with the tabletop or recessed and how much then in mm?

Thanks in advance!

Flush. They make a nice place to hang a Festool clamp out in space if you need to do so for any reason. I have used my MFT fence as a long extension fence for the Kapex and have also mounted the Kapex wing on the MFT and, along with the other on the saw, was able to clamp an extrusion between them on which I could mount a length stop. It was a makeshift set up but got me through a need.

I know this thread is old, but does Festool sell either the left or right extension for the Kapex separately? Do these still install on the MFT3 the same way they would install on the Kapex MFT?

Can either just be ordered from a Festool dealer by using the part number quoted on the Festool Kapex accessory page?

If you need  a short extension on your MFT, for example a place to clamp material while using the Domino, the Kapex Crown Stops also work! As demonstrated by Steve Bace in Henderson...

Because I transitioned to the UG, I tend to have my Kapex Extensions attached to my MFT/3 for various reasons almost all of the time...

They provide the up-facing t-track that was lost in the transition from the previous MFT 800/1080 to the current MFT 3 series. I find that t-track quite useful sometimes, especially at the edge of the table.

They also give a little more horizontal surface for various things. It sounds like an insignificant amount of space but the fact that it hangs off the edge makes it more useful and it's synergistic.

UG wings are great on the MFT/3 to the right of the fence for fall-off support when cutting shorts off long stock.

The UG wings also fit the MFT 3.

The thumb nut is very close to the clamp grove when the retaining tab is pushed into the MFT. I did sand some of the meat off of the thumb screw to make installing the wings a little easier.

Yes, the wings fit the CMS also.

DO YOU FIND THE EXTENSION WINGS USEFUL? WHAT MAKES THEM USEFUL FOR YOU? I'M TRYING TO DECIDE IF ONE OR BOTH EXTENSIONS WOULD WORK BEST OR ANOTHER OPTION (LIKE MAYBE A SECOND TABLE SINCE THE TWO EXTENSIONS TOGETHER ARE ABOUT AS EXPENSIVE AS A WHOLE TABLE).

I find them more than useful. One of my most used Festools.

If you're not to far from the northern Indiana/Illinois border you can stop by and take a look at the set up.

another option is the fastcap best fence setup. I keep meaning to look into that one.

Since my only use is in my woodworking shop, I have always felt the most versatile addition would be a second MFT3. The problem is moving it around in different configurations of MFT #1 & MFT #2, meaning retractable wheels on one of them. I still feel that way and the cost of the Kapex extensions seems to indicate that also. Are there ways to attach retractable casters to the MFT legs?

Will the multiblades kapex wing attachment also fit on the mft ? Will the best fence kapex wing atgachment fit as well ? Thx

Where's your MFT/3    [eek]

It's in my shop. It's really not that scary, is it?
