Kapex for 500 on Amazon?

Be careful! I highly doubt this is an authorized Festool retailer, so if you need service or warranty work, good luck.

Then again, for about 1/3 the price of new....

Good point.

And a few reports of service and warranty required lately.

In the US, the Festool website lists authorized dealers in the area. I would not buy from a store or web site that wasn't listed as being authorized on a Festool website.

When the tool is registered with Festool does it matter who it was from?
I bought the DX700 from Italy via ebay and the registration worked just fine, and I even got an email from Festool a week later saying something to the effect of "thanks and enjoy".

So does the manufacturer care who sold it?

In most cases I would have thought not, but In Festool Australia's case, they seem to like to encourage and promote their stores with a premier status.
And in my experience, It's also a lot faster ordering Ekat parts from these stores rather than just a regular Festool retailer.

The price difference made it worthwhile.
I was concerned as to whether it was a scam, but it arrived and it works just fine.

You are certainly correct about the speed, as the time to it took to arrive was a long wait.
