Kapex grinding table issue

So, I decided to go grab a Kapex today, and despite being told to check the build date before leaving the store, I forgot to do so. When I got home and opened the carton, sure enough, it's got a date of 04/08. When trying to turn the table to set the miter angle, it's virtually impossible to swing the saw, and there's a horrific grinding noise as it moves. Is this going to require shipping the saw back, or is there a part that can be sent out?  I thought I read somewhere about a spring plate that just needs to be changed?  This really sucks, to say the least.......

Bob,

Call Festool on Monday.  They have shipped the plates out in the past.  I believe that it takes less than five minutes to replace.

I would have them do it. They will send you a shipping box you will have it back in about a week and they go over it top to bottem and make sure everything is perfect. Then you know everthing is ajusted perfect. Better than factory settings. These guys really know there stuff.

When does something cease to be NEW is it a year after manufacture or two or more ?

Is the miter lock released?

Seen that be the culprit several times on here and once at home. [embarassed]

Don't know whether to love you or hate you. I had the saw all packed back up, ready to go pitch a fit in the morning. When I read your comment I said "no....I know I had the lock in the upright position- it can't be that". But, I decided to take your word for it and pulled the saw back out of the box to check the lever and sure enough, it hadn't fully popped up. Now it's gliding smooth as glass.  Thanks for saving me a 70-mile round trip!
