Kapex, I finally did it

After years of admiring from a far, questioning, and doubting, I finally pulled the trigger and got a Kapex.  Had to save up for almost a year, and in that year I must have changed my mind a thousand times.  Now I'll have to save another six months to complete the setup with a 55 track saw and dust collection BUT the point is that I'm pot committed!  There's no turning back! I install high end kitchens for a living and I just couldn't ignore Festool any longer.

Welcome Ninja!  As a contractor who installs a lot of kitchen and other prefin cabs, the Festool system works very well for me!  The track saws allow me to cut extended stiles with ease. The Festool drills are my highest used tools and though they aren't the only drills on the market, they do what I need them to do and they do it well!

Enjoy your Kapex as I certainly enjoy mine!

Copy that.  Kitchen installer here a well.  Can't justify the Kapex, but the 55 will make your life so much easier!  Refrigerator panels, extended stiles, fillers.  You name it, you will be making more money.  I get paid by the piece, so every minute counts!

Congrats, and way to go by saving up instead of incurring debt!

Enjoy your new baby and let us know how you get on with it.

I chickened out of the purchase just last Friday at the last minute. Roll on the first day of the new year!!

I was considering purchasing the Bosch GDL 12 and from feel and looks alone the Kapex was far superior, in my eyes, and will warrant the extra few pennies.

Welcome to the FOG, KitchenNinja!  Congrats on your Kapex.  Did you get any accessories with it like the stand or re you going to fabricate your own?  It is a great saw...enjoy it!

[welcome]

You're accelerated productivity will have you earning even more Festools before you even realise!

Thanks for the warm welcome FOG friends!  I just unpackaged saw and put it on the UG stand....insanely easy set up.  It's kind of surreal that after years of staring wishfully at this setup at my local high end tool shop that it's actually sitting in my truck.......crazy.  I can't stop thinking about designing a storage solution for my ride now.  I have to completely rearrange my  truck around this thing.  I work out of a dodge dakota with a topper so I have to lay the UG down flat with wing extensions separate.  I'm thinking a plywood garage for the kapex/UG and some sort of cubby or shelf for the wings.  Anybody out there have a similar setup in a pickup?
