My Kapex died today
I was cutting some crown moulding and when I went to cut a piece it came on and stopped after about 1-2 seconds
At first I thought that maybe I tripped the breaker but I turn the vac on and was working
So I tried to plug the saw by itself and still did not come on
However the laser is working
I removed the cover just to see if everything was still plug in ,I didn't see anything abnormal
So maybe I have a bad switch?
Maybe it needs brushes?
I probably need to send the saw to Festool to see how much it's going to cost to have it fix
I have read here that some members had problems like that and would like to know what was the problem with the saw
Also how much ( ball park)
would shipping cost to the Festool  repair place from Norfolk Virginia?
I really don't need this right now
I lost a drill couple weeks ago and had to spend lots of $$$ to replace what I lost
I am going to test the switch and power leads when I find my tester
If it's just a switch or brushes I can order the parts and do it myself

When a Kapex dies properly it still runs slowly with a popping noise and smells of burnt plastic. If yours just stopped maybe it's something less serious? I know the routers shut down when the brushes need replacing, maybe it's the same with the Kapex?

I'd say call Festool in the morning.  They should be able to help identify the problem.

If I'm not mistaken others have reported the same symptoms, lasers work but the saw doesn't.  I'm pretty sure that's the bad motor/electronics problem. I could be remembering that wrong, for your sake I hope I am.  Good luck.

Mine does that on a bad power supply, try it on a different supply

I had this same issue on my second day of ownership.  I sent the saw in for service and they just sent me a new one, I asked but was unable to find out what was wrong with the original saw.  My original guess was that the mechanism that tells the saw that the fast-fix is disengaged and that both the triggers are pulled and thus the motor can start somehow malfunctioned.  I tend to think that is wrong since they sent a whole new saw but hopefully it is something as simple as that that is preventing your motor from starting.

I did some basic tests and the brushes looks OK  from what I can tell
I put my tester on the brush holder and got 59.3 volts
Half the volts ?
The switch does work but there must some wrong with the electronics
So I think I may have to ship the saw to Festool for repairs
Does anyone knows about how much shipping is for a Kapex? I'm in Norfolk Virginia
