Hi Guys,
I am just a dealer, not a Festool employee, but have been in contact with them regarding the issue of the plate and scraping. Obviously, Festool is aware that this is a recognized problem on some of the saws and is working feverishly to find out exactly "what the heck happened". It seems, in most cases, swapping out the cam plate resolves the issue - at least saws that have been "repaired" at Festool. If there was a "burr" created by the grinding another step is needed to "correct" the problem. All saws coming from Festool are being checked for proper plate clearance. Others (myself included) will also be checking our own stock. Festool is also checking to see if excessive heat is playing a role - so far it has had no effect.
Not to minimize for one second, everyone's concern, but this is occurring on a small amount (yes, yes, yes, should not be occurring on any) of the saws but Festool will do whatever it takes to "make it right" for the customer.
As soon as Festool gathers more information, as soon as they know more about this, and can speak more definitively about it, they will post here. Truly sorry for the inconvenience.
