Kapex-less for a while

I have a lull in projects at the moment, so I've taken the opportunity to send Mr. Kapex off to service.  Immediate problem was the right hand laser that went out a couple of months ago.  But also, will have them check for the deflection that happens doing 45 bevel cuts, I guess because the weight of the saw head shifts it slightly off from a 90 degree cut.  The deflection was not as bad as I would get on my Bosch CMS, but after checking with FOG members I gathered this was something that should be corrected.  Finally, I'm having them look at the right side of the fence, which is slightly less than 90 degrees in the z axis.  Didn't affect cuts on the flat, but for taller cuts and crown moulding it did result in some errors.

So any and all cuts that need to be made for the next week and a half will happen on the MFT or the table saw with a miter gauge.

Well, that was quick.  Got a call from my dealer yesterday saying the Kapex had come back, so I swung by early this morning and picked it up -- that's exactly one week turnaround for service.  Not bad.

Haven't gotten a chance to proof the work yet, but will do so this weekend and report back.

Finally had some time this weekend to put the saw through its paces. Everything checks out, laser fixed, right side fence is stable, and bevel cuts are dead square on right side. Left side I am still experiencing a tiny bit of deflection (maybe 1/32 over 12"), but it's within the margin of error and can be controlled with the laser along the scribe line. And again, super fast turn around of only 1 week

You suffered with that saw head being out of alignment for....what... several months.....correct? Did u use the bevel feature often during that time?

Did you receive a  "report card" on what parts were tweeked or replaced?
Also care to share the cost of the tune-up. That I am sure a lot of people would love to know.

[member=61978]dirkgently[/member] It was under warranty, so no cost. Unfortunately I now forget what the fix list was, so I can't tell you.

Bevel cuts of less than 30 degrees were fine, so I continued to make those. When working 30-45 I cut it standing up where possible, setting the angle on the mitre slide. When not possible, I just used the tracksaw.

there is a fix    just buy a makita
