Kapex needs a D handle

The Kapex needs a D style handle.
It would be better for your wrist, it's a natural postion.
I own a Kapex and to me is a glaring down side to the saw.

I used to own the Bosch slider which I sold & replaced with the Kapex. At first it was completely unnatural to me to hold my hand like you need to for the Kapex.  I've owned it since day 1 & now when I need to make a quick cut on other contractors saws, I reach for the position of the Kapex. I think it just becomes a learned behavior. I'm also more comfortable using the Kapex left or right handed!

It is designed with the handle that way (and location) for a reason.

Reason is, you are applying force in line with the blade, not off to the side.

It took me all of a couple days to get use to the handle, I have used a couple other saws since owning my Kapex and they feel weird now.

Like Bob and Darcy said, it's really a better cutting position and you'll eventually get used to it.  Just make sure that you keep your index finger pointing straight out when grabbing the Kapex's handle as that changes your wrist position enough to make it more comfortable grabbing the high hand grip and arcing down with the cut.

Bummer that before you purchased your Kapex a qualified and experienced trainer had no chance to coach you to get the maximum benefit from the saw while at the same time causing your body a minimum of fatigue.

One of the cabinet makers working for me just turned 70. By coincidence his truck was in line just ahead of me the midnight long ago when Festool allowed our dealer to let those of us with pre-orders actually have them handed to us at the store. This is one of the best frame and door builders in the business. Even before he joined my firm he built face frames and cabinet doors 8-10 hours a day. Just think how many times a day he uses a Kapex.

I will be 80 in June and only make a couple of hundred cuts on another Kapex 5 days a week. Just a few days ago we were discussing our feelings about the Kapex. We both have concluded that the ergonomic design of Kapex has extended our working lives by many years.

The more you learn about the Festool System I suspect the more you will appreciate Festool engineers and designers think carefully every detail, and they must make many prototypes before going into production.

Of course, your mileage may vary.

Wow, never had an issue with the current handle. It works very well as is.  and with you look at it from a certain angle it does form a "D".

I just find the Kapex just flat out ROCKs as is.
