Hello everyone,
I bought the Kapex from Lee Valley Canada in March 2013. I was slowly collecting Festool equipment while I was building my woodworking shop that I started in 2011.
So, I didn't get to use it at all really and the same for some of the other Festool gear that I have.
I work away and on a 4 week on, 4 week off rotation so that accounts for the dragged out time to build a shop from Scratch and get all the equipment for it.
Not to mention having to do this by myself, and family issues.
Anyway, I noticed this last time home that the Kapex has an oil leak. Again I cut about a couple of two by fours with it, just to try it out and that was it. (This SCMS is strictly for the WW shop)
But I noticed an oil leak on the back of the motor where the cooling vents are.
I went through LV on this and they investigated this and consulted Festool about it. So my issue here is not about the Festool or LV service, which is very good, but only to ask if any of you have experienced this issue.
In the end Festool said that, sometimes this can happen depending how much lube was applied at the factory and that eventually this will stop and there shouldn't be a concern anymore. This was what I got from LV Canada.
But the thing that I find strange is that it just recently happened and am wondering about the past year when it was ok. Have a look at the photos and your thoughts please.
Again, this topic here is not to reflect anything about Lee Valley or Festool but only to share this issue and get maybe some remarks or if someone has experienced this.
I find the service from Lee Valley to be impeccable and the explanation given may well be all this is about.
One of the photos shows the oil drip at the base of the saw at the pivot point where the saw is moved to make bevel cuts.
