Having oil leaking from shaft by blade, spinning off of blade and sticking to the guard on right side blocking out laser on right side. Has anyone else had this problem? I cleaned it off once and now it is blocking it out again.

Tim,

I would advise that you contact Festool directly tomorrow morning.  At least you are in Indianapolis and so are they.

Sorry for your situation.

Peter

I had this problem 2 months ago, the service was great and they fixed it and cleaned the entire saw and replaced any worn parts.  The service ticket also said they put a new blade in but I'm not so sure about that, or why they would even do that.  However the saw calibration does not seem right when I got it back(was off when I sent it in) and the cuts end up being burnt.  The Kapex is the least impressive of all the Festools in my opinnion, awesome in some ways but for $1300 this thing should be flawless.

I sent mine in to get fixed, service was great to. They fixed the problem replaced worn parts, cleaned it and tuned it up, works smoother than it did new. I have been very happy with it. I'll will admit everything was not to perfection when it was new and the lasers are not set perfect all across the cut. When we are buying a top of the line tool we can sometimes set are expectations high. There are limitations to a product when it is built to be light weight and portable, if it where a solid cast iron stationary tool i would expect a absolute dead on piece of equipment.  For me i need a saw that i can carry through a house and up the stairs fit in my truck and have the capacity to cut what ever kind of job gets laid on me. And it has done everthing i need it to do with the best possible quality that i could expect from  a tool this small and light, and it would have to say i think it is the safest miter saw i have used.

Couldn't have said that any better.
[thanks]
