Hi all. I am a member of the Australian based Ubeaut Woodwork Forums and an owner of quite a number of Festool power tools. I purchased my Kapex about 9 months ago but it had remained unused until about 4 months ago when I began to use it almost daily. I was doing some docking about 3 weeks ago and after one cut, I reached under the raised blade to remove a small offcut which was at risk of jamming in the rear of the cutting trench in the base. I quickly removed my hand when I felt the "wind" of the blade over my wrist and realised the Plastic Safety Guard (here-after referred to as the PSG) had not returned after releasing the power button. I repeated a number of cuts and the blade remained in the retracted position intermittently. I continued to make test cuts until the PSG remained retracted permanently. I couldn't readily identify the problem so posted a description of the issue an one of the US festool users sites. Most suggestions were to return it to Festool for a repair/rectification under warranty.

UPDATE. Festool are picking up my machine from my door and are shipping it to Melbourne where they will check the problem for themselves and make good any needed fixes under my 1+2 Warranty.

Cheers
Mike
