Kapex question

I have been reading posts in this forum and they have been great.  I now own a couple of Festool tools and wonder if anyone can help answer a Kapex question before I buy one...  Is there an advantage to standing baseboard up in the Kapex vs lying it flat to cut it?  I want to cut 5 inch tall base  but the kapex cannot do it standing up.  I am pretty new to this and thinking of buying the kapex to do all the trim in my new home.

Thanks!

As a trim carpenter I like to stand base up any time I can for cutting miters. Almost all saws make a little better cut while cutting in the miter position than the bevel. Most miter saws are harder to get repeatable miter cuts cutting on the bevel, the Kapex doesn't have this problem. There are a few saws on the market that allow you to cut pretty tall base standing up you might want to take a look and compare them to the Kapex. The Kapex is a great saw and it makes cutting tall base on the flat easy, accurate and repeatable. If you can justify the cast there isn't a better saw out there.

I just cut up around 60 pieces of 4 1/4" base today with the Kapex. While this base was within the limits of the Kapex, I actually found it easier to cut on the flat, which is where the Kapex really excels because (in my experience) it is the easiest saw to easily dial-in precise cuts. Like a lot of other Festool tools, once you get used to the tool you find yourself executing your work differently than you did before.
