Hi guys

Hoping someone in the festool universe can help. I've recently purchased a kapex off ebay for  spares or repair. I was attempting to fix it myself. The saw itself wouldn't run so I rang festool and was told it needed a new armature which once I fitted made the saw work again. The problem I face now is that when I start the saw up it runs for I'd say 3/4 seconds and then slows down as if I'd released the switch even though I have my fingers still on the switch

Can anyone help

Kind regards
Scott

Thank you for your prompt reply.

Well that was my initial thought also but I have another kapex and swapped it and still the same problem. I've now put that back and have the same problem in both? Obviously something that's now affecting both.

It slows down and then comes to a casual stop like it would if let go of the trigger.

Because the saw starts and then shuts itself back down, it kind of sounds as though the controller is not getting some motor feedback that it is expecting. My first guess would be the speed sensor. Because you now have this with both saws, then it suggests that you have repeated the same mistake with both. Take a closer look for a connector that is disconnected or even reversed.

Doesnt' sound right..I will say however the Kapex is underpowered overall, especially shows when you bury the blade. Whole saw motor bogs more than any other saw I've used.

What you said was correct! I'd forgot to install the tachometer that's positioned on the top of the housing near the armature. Obviously that must read the speed of the rotation and report back

Kind regards
