I had to do something to extend the work surface of the Kapex, and wasn't really keen on dropping $800 on the current extensions and Kapex MFT.  Maybe when the new ones come out, I'll be wooed, but for now, I was able to mount the saw on a Portamate stand that I already had, and fabricate some extension wings.  This also gave me the opportunity to practice with my new Domino, which I used to attach the 1x3 side skirts to the 1/2" plywood top surfaces.  The 4mm tenons worked great!

If I end up keeping this setup, I'll likely build some adjustable legs that will fold up and store in the wings- the metal extensions on the Portamate stand aren't quite as solid as I'd like them to be.  I may also re-work the fastening system used to tie the wings to the saw, but the T-bolt and threaded inserts seem to be doing fine for now.  We'll see how they hold up under prolonged use.

There's still something a little odd about mounting a $1,300 saw on a $50 stand, but for now, it's working well.

Have you sold your extensions? If not let me know, I am on the Jlc forums also.
