Hi people,

apologies if this has been answered before. I am currently using my Kapex on a Dewalt stand and although it is ok would prefer the proper stand that Festool do.

Here is the question, do I go for the left and right extensions, or do I go for the trimming attachments ?
Would really appreciate any help on this matter.
Looked on the Axminster sight as they sell both, but does not really explain it very well, or I am being dim  ;D

Cheers,

Mark.

I have the UG stand for my Kapex (the one with wheels) with the left and right extensions or "wings". It is a fantastic set up, especially if you need to transport the saw. The other option is the MFT type stand which is just a table really, think this is what people use the trimming attachments with.

Doug,

thanks for that, it all makes sense now. I was being dim lol. Sounds like it is just what I need apart from the price  :o but you can't stop on this slippery green slope as you probably know.

Thanks again.

Mark.

I think the UG cart and left and right wings are way overrated. The cart is so small that it isn't super stable and there is no surface area on it to place a block of wood with a list of measurements, etc. The left and right wings are very flimsy also and on a job site are in constant need of adjustment. Not impressed

Will the Right and Left Wings work if you are using the Kapex on the MFT/3 Kapex table?

I am considering a Kapex setup currently, and was originally thinking the UG set, but as another said it is quite small and not much to it. I like the portability factor, but I am not going to be taking it site to site, just from one spot in the garage to another. I am sick and tired of stacking blocks to hold my longer wood currently that I cut with my old chop saw. Want something that is easy to set up, will hold my wood correctly when needed, but can also be broken down so I don't have it taking up a ton of space, like say building the Kapex into a bank of cabinets. Plus if I need I will have another MFT for other duties.

I don't see why not, since they clamp directly to the saw.

I wouldn't recommend the Kapex stand if the saw will be in one place most of the time.  Yeah, it's nice that it packs up in such a compact form, but the lightness of the stand makes for less stability.  Nor do the wings provide adequate support for wood over 8", which can result in bad cuts since the boards might rock forward on you, particularly if the lumber you're using has any bowing in it.  And clamping the board down can throw it slightly off the fence, ruining all that time and effort you spent getting the blade/fence setting exactly at 90.

Yes they will. I have the MFT Kapex. As noted, they attach to the saw so not really an issue.

Just bear in mind the MFT Kapex has a smaller working area and is 790mm high versus the 900mm of the MFT/3.
