As the title says,
I am looking for a better way to move my saw.
I’m thinking of the ug kapex stand with a fastcap best fence system. I don’t like the look of the Festool version, a bit to flimsy for me.
I like the Multi blades attachment with the ability to use clamps with a crown stop.

So my question to you peeps is this
What wheeled stand and wings do you prefer?
What saw wings do you like?
Heck, how Do you use your saw?
Let’s see em.
Thanks,Charlie.

First, I am a person and not a “peep”.

Second, I have my Kapex sitting on a Festool UG stand with a Festool dust collector nestled under it. I have Festool extensions on each side of the Kapex. This setup works well. It’s not flimsy. When I need to cut long boards, I position a roller stand to support the board. The roller is set at the height of the Kapex bed. I use a shortened wide diameter hose connecting the dust collector to the Kapex.

I’ve used this setup to build benches, beds, furniture, and jewelry boxes.

The Kapex UG cart and extensions are, IMHO the only feature that justifies the price of the Kapex system.  If you need a SCMS that is quickly and easily portable for use at worksites remote from your shop the UG cart and extensions are the only elegant solution.  If your SCMS stays in your shop then you can save a bundle with a cheaper, albeit heavier and bulkier solution.

I need my Kapex to be a bit more portable too so I've opted for the UG stand, though haven't pulled the trigger just yet.  I'm planning on making my own wings - doubt they will be any lighter or more elegantly transportable than the Festool solution, but hopefully a bit more functional for my needs.

BTW, and I don't mean to hijack the thread, could someone post the Kapex table surface height off the ground when on the UG stand?  Thanks!

Dimensions with Kapex, folded 2' x 2' x 3'
Height to miter saw deck 35-7/16"

The Kapex on it's UG stand is the same height as the MFT/3, CMS tables and Precisio saws: 900 mm.
It's part of a system and all have the same height.
Maybe also a few systainers stacked on each other, but haven't tried that.
The UG stand is probably the smartest saw-stand, especially when folded. But there maybe others around.

Thanks!  One more question - does the stand fold down normally if you have the crown stops attached?

I cant answer that right now, but note - if you are using the Crown Stops, you can't use the UG wings at the same time. Just an FYI on the 'system'...

The crown stops don't have to be removed when the Kapex is folded on the UG stand. Total height will rise a little.

Just an FYI, you don't need the crownstops if you have the wings, all you do is switch the wings round the the fence is to the front.

The UG Stand is great!  Pricey, but works great.  Ive tried many other rolling stands but they are all too bulky/HEAVY for my taste.  I took my Kapex off of it and use my Dewalt Flexvolt miter saw with the UG Stand.  Cordless and very portable.  The Fastcap wings are really good.  I opted for Multiblades brackets and homemade supports.  Works well for me.

I think I want the u/g stand but the wing support is what I’m curious.
Thanks for your input

I’ll counter the glowing opinions here: I have the stand and it is not that great. Too wings are far to rickety for the cost. It would be substantially better if each extension had two legs.  Other companies make stands that are $500+ cheaper that are quite good. Dewalt has a nice one that I use with my Flexvolt SCMS and had I used the Dewalt stand before I would not have bought the UG. Don’t let the “system” shoehorn you into one solution.

Having used the Kapex with the UG stand and wings for a few years both on site and in the workshop I am glad I chose the Festool system, it works. Not only that but the Kapex wings have been fantastic as in and outfeed tables on my CMS saw/router table and extra support on my MFT3 for large projects and as for "rickety" that can't be further from the truth if you use them properly. They work on a three point contact just as a three legged stool that remains stable on uneven ground.
"One solution" is the epitome of dewalt tooling and the reason I turned to Festool for my kit, they do one job and you can't mix the kit to provide solutions elsewhere. The dewalt products may suit you now but I'd bet that they won't always cover all your expectations.

Likewise not 100% convinced about the extensions, although the UG cart itself isn't too bad, I find. One thing I don't like about the UG cart is that the wheels are naff plastic items - for site work it really would be better off fitted with a more substantial rubber-tyred wheels

Dewalt standhttp://www.multiblades.com/UniversalKapexBracket.html
homemade wings (birch ply, t track, stop block, plus Starrett tape)

It's pretty rock solid, still cheaper than buying one that's ready made. Tons of people have made them, just look around a little.

Me too.  I need a new setup.  But I don't want the saw attached to the stand.  So the typical miter saw stands, and the UG cart are out of the question.

I don't mind if the setup is ricketty as long as it's light weight and folding.  Everything needs to go in the back seat of a Silverado.

I've been thinking about the UG wings and a folding table like a Ketter.

I use a B&D workmate with a 1.25” top added.  This brings the saw table a smidge above 900mm for use with kapex wings or MFT for outfeed.  The workmate does pack up flat, but I’m not sure it meets your back seat criteria.

I've got the saw, stand, and wings. I can see why people say that the wings are rickety, but I've never had a issue with them. Around here the trades usually aren't stacked during finishing so we've usually got the place to ourselves and people running around bumping things doesn't happen much.

In my opinion, the wings are the best part of the system IF you need to make repetitive cuts. They make short work of window liners and casing, and are much better than other mobile options I've seen. For baseboard there's less of a benefit but overall they were worth it for me.

All that said, I plan to make a Paulk Total Station to see if it's a better fit for my work flow.

I built a paulk total station and have a few suggestions.
Use good plywood not box store stuff.
Maybe use 1/2” plywood through out.
Overall I like the setup but it’s way to heavy for me.
I am on jobs for a day here a day there, so mobility is important to me.
Thanks for the replies
