Merry Christmas all!
So I have been using my Kapex and potable stand (Festool 201179) for a few years now and while the stand works pretty well I don’t love it. With longer sticks it can get a little unstable. Has anyone had any experience with the fastcap Best Fence System? Always appreciate the opinions.
Cheers and happy new year.

Hello,  I swapped my Kapex UG stand for the FastCap Best Fence Pro prior to my last big project.    I think the UG base with wings is an elegant design.  It's light weight, easily portable, and seems to really compliment the Kapex.  That said, the Best Fence Pro is a sturdy, heavy, tank of a saw base with rubber tires.  You can certainly beat the hell out of it without worry.  It's easily adjustable for any terrain, and I believe it comes with four 6' wings.  It's also compatible with other saws.  I'm pretty faithful to Festool, but its nice to have an extra miter saw for less fine work.  Basically, If you don't mind the extra weight of the Fastcap system its a nice upgrade for working on bigger material.

I've had the Kapex with UG, which I bought used for a bit more than half the current price, for about 5 years.  I have cut heavy stock like ipe to lengths out to near the limits the UG wings will handle with no problems and no stability concerns.  You sort of provide the answer to your question though, if you ever intend to use your saw out of your shop on jobsites the UG stand is the only solution.  It's portability and ease of breakdown and setup are unmatched.  If your saw will only live in its designated spot in your shop, then portability has no value and you can use whatever tank-like setup you choose.

Thanks for the info, totally agree on the Festool design. Are you using the 3rd hand design that attaches the wings to the sides of kapex? Or does the stand you use have wings that slide out?

I was thinking of using the Festool rolling portion of the stand and replacing the wings with the best fence system. It’s tough to tell If their system is much more stable.

I got the best fence pro.  The whole set-up with 4 wings.  I bought it used and I think I had to buy the adapter for the Kapex.  I'm not sure if the wings from link you provided are that much of an upgrade from the standard kapex wings.  I had the same issue with the UG set up where it seemed like it got out of alignment easily and often during use.  The best fence pro set up with the base is more rigid and reliable.  There are some used ones out there if you keep an eye out.

Do you need it to be portable or need to store it between uses?
