My Kapex dust collection went from great to terrible. I checked the Festool Midi, no problem. I checked the hose from the Midi to the Kapex, clear. I removed the Kapex blade and there were no obstruction between the hose port and the rubber funnel.

I was baffled!

I had to pick up some Midi bags so visited Highland Woodworking. I examined their display Kapex.

I found the display had a spring loaded plastic shroud that covered the back of the saw blade. I didn’t remember that on mine.

When I got home, I found that shroud was jammed in the retracted position. A narrow slice of wood had gotten sucked up and jammed the shroud. I wiggled the slice out, cleaned up the accumulation of dust and tried a cut.

The dust collection had returned to normal.

Very weird!

Edward - I use the mustache. Got it from FastCap.  I did reinforce it with some brass thin stock to keep it attached to the Kapex.  I can take photos if you need them.

Search the forum here as there are some others and I think Poplar Shop even did a video.

I use the mustache when I have a lot crosscuts to do; otherwise the stock rubber shroud is used. Fastcap carries it.

Can’t find a Stache over here, I might try and make one from a truck wheel arch splash guard.
I did make up a rubber extension but, it dragged too much.
