I made some muntons for a glass cabinet door and used the limited depth cutting capability of the Kapex to cut half lap joints in the pieces. First time I used the trenching feature.  The only thing I wish is that the depth adjustment knob was a little less finicky. It took quite a few test cuts to get the depth dialed in.

I really like the way the lasers make it easy to trim the width  for a good fit on the lap joints.

I wish they just made the depth stop better all together its one of the worst depth stops I have used as in the amount of height adjustment u have is very low.

I half agree with you - I agree that the range of height adjustment is pretty poor, however the way the depth stop works is, in my opinion far better & more accurate/repeatable than any other I've seen (though TBH my experience of working with other chop saws is limited to a few makita/bosch saws).

i think it is a terible design as there is no easy way to repeat the setting. on my dewalt 718 there is a bolt with a wing nut on it and a flip out stop that the bolt head hits. once set it works great , you can flip up the stop and cut the hole way through then flip it again to do the next piece. on the kapex you have to set it each time

???
I think the Kapex can do the same.

It's perfectly straightforward - dial it in to the height you want, you can then flip the depth stop on and off , with perfect repeatability.

i dont have a kapex so im not sure.

The kapex you can turn the depth stop ON and OFF like JRB has said easily just by lifting BUT BUT   I do not believe its accurate as you can easily slightly rotate the adjustment when your lifting it up and down so to me still a poor design.  Unlike others they swing out the way but the depth adjustment is not touched so you know it will still be set just how you left it.

If your like me and like to do things a little faster you can easily with the Festool Depth stop accidentally turn the setting only slightly but if your  turning the depth stop ON OFF ON OFF ON OFF ON OFF ON OFF ON OFF ON OFF ON OFF ON OFF ON OFF  it can accumulate  and with gloves on even more likely!

Forgive the dumb question but how do we adjust the depth stop?  I've never used that feature yet.

heeeheee

If you look on the right side of the Kapex you will see some green knobs!   Its just above the green lock down switch for when your transporting your kapex.

Here is a picture!

on Brice Burrels web site he has put a LARGE GREEN arrow pointing to the depth stop by turning it you can adjust the depth stop!  Thats what I mean about it not being accurate cus by droping it down it activates the depth stop but in turn you can accidentally turn the the adjustment.

Welcome to the forum , Dan !  [smile]

I believe Brice is working on an updated site. I suspect he will pop in on this thread.
