I am relatively new to this forum, in fact this is my first post.  Since January of 2008, I have spent a small fortune on Festool Gear.  I love all of the tools that I have purchased.  I have a couple of small gripes about the C12 not accepting standard American pop-in screw/drill accessories (and the fact that Festool does not package their own accessory kits for this drill), but enough about that...here is my question:

I have decided to purchase the Kapex when it is legal to sell in the USA (July 1, 2008).  I have been looking for a portable Mitre Saw that have extensions on the right and left for accurate repeat measurements.  My research found that Festool makes the KA-KS 120.  Problem is that it is not listed in their USA Catalog!  Are the selling this accessory in the Americas?  If not, why not?  Can I order one from Germany or the UK?

Mark Spagnola (Wood Whisperer) has a Kapex on one of his videos.  It appears to have this attachment.  How did he get it?

This is important to me due to the fact that these tools are expensive, and the company has a reputation of introducing new tools in other markets than the USA.  I do not want to spend $1,300.00 just to find out that the Germans will never sell the accessory I want in the USA!

Anyone know the availability of the KA-KS 120,  or the Kapex version of the MFT/3-Kapex?

The extensions for the Kapex won't be available in July, however, Festool does plan to release them in the US sometime in the future, no time frame has been discussed here so we just don't know when. The MFT/Kapex will be released in July. Its top will be 525 MM by 815 mm and the table is 790 tall, that will put the saw's bed at the same height MFT/3. The MFT/Kapex has a slightly different hole pattern, it has more holes, it doesn't come with a fence or rail hardware like the MFT/3.

Back to the problem of extensions for the Kapex, Sawhelper makes a first rate miter saw stand/extensions.

Thanks for the very prompt response and for the suggestion to check out SawHelper.  It looks like a good system.  Any reason why Festool would delay the introduction of such a key accessory?  If availability is a problem, I can understand, but just to hold the availability to create frustrated Festool Owners seems senseless.  I am sure there are popular American Made products that are sold in other countries with limited availability, but I can guarantee that the American Manufacturer will be more than happy to send that accessory overseas for the right price.

Sorry, I am not trying to sound negative, but I hate waiting for anything.  Now for the reality check.  Festool sells the Kapex in Germany for 1,263.78 (EUR).  The current exchange rate for June 2, 2009 is (1 EUR = $1.55448 (USD))  That is $1,964.52 (im karton).  In my house, spending close to $2,000.00 for any one tool is verboten.  I guess I will wait for Festool to introduce the KA-KS 120 at their leisure.  Thanks for the discount Festool!
